The best apps for living in Paraguay (Bolt, PedidosYa, Tigo Money...)
Partager
You've settled in Asunción, your "cédula" is in hand, your apartment is found—and now you take out your phone to organize your new life. Order a meal, call a ride-sharing service, pay a bill, top up your phone plan, send money, find a doctor, check the weather before a tropical storm. In Paraguay, there's an app for every need—and knowing them upon arrival will save you weeks of adjustment.
This guide lists the essential apps for living in Paraguay in 2026: transport, delivery, payments, banking, communication, services, and daily life. Install them even before you set foot at Silvio Pettirossi Airport—you'll thank us.
Transportation: stress-free travel
Bolt—your private driver
This is the #1 app in Paraguay, the one you'll use every day. Bolt is the dominant ride-sharing service in Asunción—the equivalent of Uber (which also exists but is less used). As detailed in our Paraguay transportation guide:
- Price: 2 to 5 USD for most city trips—3 to 10 times cheaper than a Parisian taxi
- Wait time: 3 to 8 minutes on average in central districts
- Payment: bank card (local or international) or cash
- Tip: register your Paraguayan bank card as soon as you open your bank account for seamless payment
Bolt is your primary mobility solution for the first 6 months—even before considering buying a car and obtaining your Paraguayan driver's license (€150).
Uber—the alternative
Uber works in Asunción but with a smaller fleet than Bolt. Prices are comparable. Having both apps installed gives you more options—if Bolt shows a long wait time, check Uber and vice versa.
MUV—the Paraguayan ride-sharing service
MUV is a ride-sharing application developed in Paraguay. Less known than Bolt but with a loyal local driver base. Prices are similar. It's a third option that can help you out when the other two are overloaded (rainy days, rush hours).
Google Maps / Waze—navigation
Google Maps works well in Asunción—up-to-date mapping, reliable road itineraries, location of businesses and restaurants. Waze is even better for daily driving thanks to real-time traffic alerts, police control reports, and alternative routes. If you drive in Asunción, Waze is essential—traffic can be chaotic, and an alternative route often saves 15 to 20 minutes.
Food and grocery delivery: eat without moving

PedidosYa—the Paraguayan Uber Eats
PedidosYa is the dominant food delivery platform in Paraguay (and throughout Spanish-speaking Latin America). Hundreds of restaurants in Asunción are available—from local pizzerias to gourmet restaurants, including fast-food chains and food trucks.
- Delivery fees: 1 to 3 USD depending on distance
- Delivery time: 30 to 60 minutes on average
- Payment: card, cash, or PedidosYa wallet
- Tip: promotions and promo codes are frequent—sign up for notifications to take advantage of them
PedidosYa also delivers supermarket groceries, pharmacy products, and convenience store items. It's your delivery Swiss Army knife in Paraguay.
Monchis—the local alternative
Monchis is a Paraguayan delivery app with a complementary offering to PedidosYa. Some restaurants are exclusive to one platform or the other—having both installed maximizes your options. The interface is in Spanish.
Stock Express / Super 6—online groceries
Stock and Super 6 supermarkets offer online grocery shopping services with home delivery. You select your products on the app or website, pay online, and receive your delivery within hours. Very convenient for large weekly shops—especially when it's 38°C outside in January.
Payments and finance: managing your money

Tigo Money—the mobile wallet
Tigo Money is the most widely used mobile wallet in Paraguay. Linked to your Tigo phone number, it allows you to pay in stores, restaurants, gas stations, and online—without taking out your bank card. You top up your Tigo Money account from your bank account or at top-up points (kiosks, pharmacies, supermarkets).
- Usage: QR code payments in stores, transfers between individuals, bill payments (water, electricity, phone)
- Advantage: more and more businesses accept Tigo Money—even small street vendors
- Limit: primarily in Guaraníes
Personal Pay / Claro Pay—the alternatives
Operators Personal and Claro offer their own mobile wallets. Adoption is lower than Tigo Money, but the functionalities are similar. If your phone operator is Personal or Claro, their wallet is the natural choice.
Billetera Personal / Billetera Tigo—pay your bills
These apps allow you to pay all your utility and private bills from your phone: electricity (ANDE), water (ESSAP), phone, internet, cable TV, community fees, and even some taxes. It's the Paraguayan equivalent of direct debit—but in mobile version, with full control over each payment.
Wise—your international transfers
Wise (formerly TransferWise) is the essential app for expats transferring money from Europe to Paraguay. As detailed in our money transfer guide, Wise offers the real exchange rate without markup and minimal transfer fees (0.5 to 1%). The mobile app allows you to initiate a transfer in 2 minutes from your couch.
Banking apps—your bank in your pocket
All Paraguayan banks have mobile apps—of varying quality. The best performers:
- Itaú App: one of the best banking apps in Paraguay—clear interface, instant transfers, detailed history, real-time notifications
- Continental Online: the Banco Continental app—functional, access to Guaraní and dollar accounts
- Sudameris Mobile: Sudameris Bank app—decent for everyday operations
- Familiar Net: Banco Familiar app—basic but effective
Configure notifications for your banking app to be alerted in real time of every movement on your accounts—incoming transfers (Wise), card payments, ATM withdrawals. This is your daily financial dashboard. For opening your bank account in Paraguay, our support includes setting up the mobile app.
Communication: staying connected
WhatsApp—THE communication platform
In Paraguay, WhatsApp isn't just a messaging app—it's the universal communication tool. Everyone uses WhatsApp: your landlord, your accountant, your banker, your doctor, the restaurant for reservations, the plumber, your building's doorman, and even public administration. Neighborhood, condominium, and expat community WhatsApp groups are ubiquitous.
If you don't have WhatsApp, you're invisible in Paraguay. Install it with your new Paraguayan number (Tigo, Personal, or Claro SIM card bought at the airport) and integrate it into your communication routine from day 1.
Telegram—the alternative for groups
Telegram is used by some expat communities and crypto-investors in Paraguay (see our crypto guide). Less universal than WhatsApp but useful for thematic groups and information channels.
Tigo / Personal / Claro—manage your mobile plan
Each operator has its app to manage your phone plan: top-up, consumption tracking, data pack activation, customer support. Mobile internet in Paraguay is affordable and decent—as detailed in our internet guide in Paraguay. Data plans range from 5 to 25 USD/month for 10 to 50 GB.
Daily services: simplifying your life
Infocasas—find accommodation
Infocasas is the largest real estate portal in Paraguay—the equivalent of SeLoger or Immoweb. Thousands of listings for apartments, houses, and land for sale and rent. It's your #1 tool for finding accommodation in Asunción—in parallel with our real estate support service. Filter by neighborhood, budget, property type, and surface area to identify the best options in the neighborhoods recommended by our neighborhood guide.
Clasipar—classifieds
Clasipar is the general classifieds website in Paraguay—the equivalent of Leboncoin. Used cars, furniture, appliances, services, jobs, real estate—everything is bought and sold there. Essential for furnishing your new home without breaking the bank.
iFood / Rappi—complementary services
Rappi is present in Paraguay with a multi-category delivery service: restaurants, pharmacies, supermarkets, and even cash withdrawal ("Rappi Cash"). The offering complements PedidosYa.
Health: taking care of yourself
Apps from your prepaga or insurance
If you have local health insurance (prepaga), your insurer's app is your gateway to care: search for doctors in the network, make online appointments, track reimbursements, and get your digital insurance card. Our health insurance guide details the options.
Farma.com.py—online pharmacy
Several Paraguayan pharmacies offer online ordering and delivery of medications. Medicine prices in Paraguay are significantly lower than in Europe—a box of paracetamol or ibuprofen costs a few cents of a dollar. Useful for recurring orders and days when you don't want to go out.
Practical life and leisure
Eventbrite / Instagram—events
Asunción's event scene is booming: concerts, exhibitions, food festivals, networking events, artisan markets. Instagram has become the main channel for discovering local events—follow the accounts of restaurants, bars, and cultural spaces in your neighborhood. Eventbrite is used for paid events and reservations.
Google Translate—your language assistant
During your first few months in Paraguay, before mastering Spanish (see our guide to learning Spanish), Google Translate is your lifesaver. The camera function (point your phone at text to translate it in real time) is particularly useful for restaurant menus, administrative documents, and information signs. Voice translation is decent for simple conversations.
AccuWeather / Windy—the weather
In Paraguay, the weather isn't just polite conversation—it's survival information. Tropical storms can be violent and sudden, especially from November to March (see our climate guide). AccuWeather or Windy alert you to imminent storms and allow you to plan your movements accordingly. When the app announces a storm for 5 PM, believe it—and go home before then.

The SIM card: your first purchase in Paraguay
Operators
Three operators share the Paraguayan mobile market:
- Tigo: the leader—best coverage, best 4G network, largest number of associated services (Tigo Money, Tigo Sports). Recommended first choice for expats.
- Personal: second operator—good urban coverage, competitive plans
- Claro: third operator—present and functional but slightly inferior network in the provinces
Buy your SIM card at the airport (counters in the arrival hall) or at any Tigo sales point in the city. SIM card cost: 1 to 3 USD. Immediately top up with a data pack (10 to 25 USD for 10 to 50 GB/month). You'll be connected in 5 minutes.
Conclusion: your phone is your best ally in Paraguay

In Paraguay, your smartphone is your Swiss Army knife: it transports you (Bolt), feeds you (PedidosYa), connects you (WhatsApp), guides you (Google Maps), pays for you (Tigo Money), translates for you (Google Translate), and protects you from storms (AccuWeather). The 15 minutes you spend installing these apps before your departure will save you days of adjustment upon your arrival.
And remember: behind every app, there's an ecosystem of services that makes your Paraguayan life smooth and pleasant. Bolt works better with a Paraguayan bank account (local card registered). Wise works better with established tax residency. Infocasas works better with our real estate support. Everything is connected—and we connect everything for you.
